Epidemiological analysis of STDs in Shenzhen in 2001

Objective To understand the epidemic characteristic of STDs in Shenzhen in 2001 and provide scientific evidence for their control and prevention Methods STD reports and demographic data in Shenzhen in 2001 were collected and analyzed Results Reported cases of STDs were 9,160 in 2001,which rose by 14 96% against 2000,and the total incidence rate reported was 209 13/100,000 The STD with the highest incidence rate was still condyloma acuminatum The reported cases of nongonococcal urethritis exceeded those of gonorrhea for the first time,ranking the second Gonorrhea was among the most frequently reported STDs,but its constitutive ratio was decreasing yearly Conclusion Incidence of HIV/AIDS,syphilis and nongonococcal urethritis tended to ascend distinctively,while congenital syphilis appeared in a grave trend;and much work should be done to examine STDs among pregnant women
