Expressions of p53,p16 and pRb and its relationship with cancerization of condyloma acuminatum

CHEN Li, ZHU Xin. (Department of Dermatology, First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, Nanchang, Jiangxi 330006, China)
Objective To investigate the prevalence of HPV16/18 infection in condyloma acuminatum (CA) in vulva and in genital squamous cell carcinoma, and to explore the relationship between expressions of p53, p16 and pRb and the cancerization of condyloma acuminatum. Methods A total of 70 skin biopsy specimens including 50 CA samples and 20 carcinoma samples were collected. Hybridization in situ was used to detect HPV16/18 infection. Immunohistochemisty was used to identify the expressions of p53, p16 and pRb. Results (1) Expression rate of p16 and pRb in the group of specimens with HPV16/18 (+) was not significantly different from that in the carcinoma group (P0.05); and (2) positive indices (PIs) and absorbances of p53, p16 and pRb in specimens with HPV(+) were significantly different from those in the HPV(-) group or carcinoma group (P0.01). Conclusions The results have indicated the relationship between HPV16/18 infection and cancerization, and the identification of the expressions of p53, p16 and pRb may be helpful for predicting the risk of cancerization.
