Objective To compare the validity of seven ELISA kits for detecting anti-HSV2 specific IgG antibodies. Methods A total of 189 serum specimens were collected from suspected HSV2 cases, and detected by three imported and four homemade ELISA kits for anti-HSV2 specific IgG antibodies. Results Compared with the expanded golden standard, the sensitivity and specificity of these ELISA kits were 94.6% and 98.2%, 100% and 96.4%, 100% and 96.4%, 98.5% and 9.1%, 93.9% and 43.6%, 96.9% and 18.2%, 30.8% and 100%, respectively. The areas under the ROC curve of these kits were 0.964(0.933-0.995), 0.982(0.953-1.011), 0.982(0.953-1.011), 0.529(0.434-0.623), 0.664(0.567-0.761), 0.517(0.416-0.618), 0.654(0.576-0.732), respectively. Conclusion Three imported ELISA kits could be used in clinical laboratory diagnosis and epidemiological investigation.
