Participatory methods used to evaluate AIDS control and prevention programs

Objective To explore the application of participatory methods to evaluate HIV/AIDS control and prevention programs. Methods Participatory rural appraisal, quantification methods and anthropology methods were used by local stakeholders to evaluate HIV/AIDS control and prevention programs . Results The relationship between participatory and traditional evaluations was defined, the participants and their role were assigned, priorities of evaluation were developed, data and information that were hardly accessible were successfully collected.Conclusions Participatory and traditional evaluation should be used in combination in HIV/AIDS control and prevention program to improve existing interventions.
