A mathematical model is presented here for the Northcountry Karst media which can be divided into two basic types, dissolved-fissure network-porous block type and dissolved-fissure network-ficrofissured block type. The following problems are solved: 1. Dual-medium property in the Northcountry Karst is recognized. 2. Flow models are set up respectively in the dissolved-fissure network and in the blocks which have either porous or microfissured property. 3. In th-e models, blocks are not conceived as a special shape such as a sphere or a parallel plate as many other authors did. They can be of any given shape and size. 4. Two-dimensional flow equation is used in both fissure network and in blocks, which can better depict the natural flow station in blocks when compared with one-dimensional equation which was commonly used before. 5. Finite element solutions of the model are derived in stead of analytical or combined analytical-umerecal solutions. In order to verify the model, calculation is made under the typical conditions and given parameters. Results show that the model is successful in description of flow in the media of dissolved-dissure network-orous or microfissured blocks. Furhtermore, the model is applied successfully to the karst aquifer in the south-estern submbs, Jinan City. This is a new try for the dual-edium model to make a practical calculation.
