Investigation of the Village Ponds and Environmental Quality Assessment in Dongshan Karst Area,Mengzi,Yunnan Province

There are 22 village ponds in the Dongshan karst area for investigation in Mengzi,Yunnan Province. Based on pH analysis,the village ponds is belong to the neutral-alkaline water quality. The average concentrations of ammonia-nitrogen and TP in ponds are 1. 66 and 0. 68 times as those of the class Ⅴ on the surface water. The average concentrations of TN and SO_4~(2-) in ponds are 3. 37 and 16. 24 times as those of the class Ⅴ on the surface water. On the other side,the average concentrations of Mn,Cu,Zn,Cd and Pb in ponds are 651. 54,3. 77,21. 74,5. 90 and 4. 10 times as those of class Ⅴ on the surface water. These reservoirs were polluted heavily by heavy metals. The village ponds pollution was widespread and serious in Dongshan karst area,and the water is class Ⅴ. The concentration of Zn and Cd in Baigu village reservoir is446. 1 and 86. 5 times as class Ⅴ water. The local population and the government should pay more attention to these situation.
