SEISMIC COHERENCE CUBE TECHNOLOGY AND ITS APPLICATION

Small regions of seismic traces cut by a fault surface generally have a different seismic character with the corresponding regions of neighboring traces. Missing stratigraphic section from one side of a fault to another generates slightly different reflectivity on one side of the fault. This results in a sharp discontinuity in local trace to trace coherence. The coherence is lower when the traces are less similar. On the basis of the principle of seismic coherence cube technique, we use the program tools of MOTIF to develop a software on the UNIX system station. It can be used to trace discontinuity in the 3D seismic volume. From that we can get a 3D correlation volume and then the fault information slice. It can quickly provide a view of regional faulting to the geoscientists. Through processing the fault slices of horizon T1 standard reflection in two projects of Dagang oil field, we draw a conclusion that this kind of correlation method shows you a real fault system. On the other hand, the interface of software is very nice, it can be manipulated easily. The result of software makes the people of interpretation form the best plan quickly, save time and reduce more work quantities.
