Study on impact of metro train regenerative brake on traction network voltage

In the past, metro trains mainly used onboard resistance braking. This traditional braking mode resulted in energy waste, and a large amount of heat generated during braking, causing tunnel ambient temperature rise. In recent years, metro trains generally use regenerative braking. However, when the regenerative braking power fails to be fully absorbed, excess power causes DC traction network voltage rise rapidly, making the power utilization unsafe. In order to absorb the excess energy generated by regenerative braking and to stabilize the traction network voltage, an inverter feedback system is introduced. The change of the traction network voltage and the motor running status are verified by the simulation software MATLAB/SIMULINK when a metro train regenerative braking is put into operation.
