Performance Analysis and Simulation of an Integrated Service TDM Ring Network
Zhu Xianjue Liu Zhengji
To provide integrated service on LAN a ring-net is examined in which
the packet-switching and circuit-switching are combined. In this network
Time Division Multiplexing(TDM)techniques are employed for transmis-
sion and switching. Each TDM frame is divided into two fields:circuit-
switching field and packet-switching field. The CS-field assigns channels
according to users demand and provides real-time services(e.g.voice).
The PS-field uses token passing protocol and provides nonreal-time servi-
ces(e.g.data).
This paper presents the perfomance analysis and computer simulation
of this network. The behaviour in PS-feild is described by M/G/1 queuing
system model and some evaluation formulas are derived with the help of the
composite generating function method. The results obtained from theoretical
analysis are coincident with computer simulation results approximately.
