The Study of Magnetic Susceptibility Artifact and Ite Avoidness

Purpose: this paper describes and discusses magnetic susceptibility artifacts (MSA) in magnetic resonance imaging, analyzes the reason that cause artifacts and gets the effective measures to restrain and avoid artifacts. Materials and Methods: Use GE Signa 1.5 -T MR system, 86 patients with magnetic susceptibility artifacts are retrospectively analyzed who had been executed several effective measures in Tongji hospital. Results: Magnetic susceptibility artifacts are recognized and classified as follows: affiliated metal artifacts (40 cases) and in vivo magnetic susceptiblility difference artifacts (46 cases). When affiliated metal can be gone, the artifact can be avoided; when affiliated metal can not be unloaded (examine must be safe and feasible) and in vivo magnetic susceptibility difference is present, the artifacts can only be restrained. Conclusion: In a word, magnetic susceptilility artifacts in magnetic resonance imaging are able to be restrained and avoided in scanning.
