Purpose:To evaluate the clinical application of superselective splenic arterial embolization to treat the patients with portal hypertension and hypersplenism caused by hepatocirrhosis.Materials and Methods:14 patients with portal hypertension and hypersplenism caused by hepatocirrhosis,11 patients were treated by Superselective splenic arterial embolization and 3 patient was treated by selective splenic arterial embolization. Before and after the operation, the portal pressure and blood routine and hepatic function were observed. Results:Compared with the condition before operation, the portal pressure and GPT decreased and WBC and Plt rose obviously.2 patients were treated with 2 times. No severe complication occurred in all patients. Conclusion:Superselective splenic arterial embolization is safe and effective treatment for portal hypertension and hypersplenism caused by hepatocirrhosis. It lessens the portal hypertension and reduce or eliminate hypersplenism.
