Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry with Matrix Modification for Determination of Aluminium in Seawater.

A graphite furnace atomicabsorption spectrometric method using with ammonium ethylenediamine tetraacetate-magnesium chloride as matrix modifiers has been presented in this paper for direct determination of trace amounts of aluminium in sea water. These modifiers are effective for eliminating the matrix effect on the atomic absorption signal and the interference caused by most trace elements and for enhancing the absorption signal of aluminium. The quantities of aluminium in samples are obtained by direct comparison with standard curve prepared from aqueous standards containing matix modifiers. The recovery, standard deviation and detection limit are 03.7-104.3%. 2.6% and 0.9 μgAl/l respectively for a 10 μl injection.
