Studies of Electrocrystallization of Nickel on Microelectrodes

You Jinkua Wu Huihuang (Institute of physical Chemistry)  
Electrocrystallization of nickel was investigated, using a Pt microelectrode with 10uuuuuuuuuum diameter. The interface tension of the crystallites in the solution was estimated, and the nucleation rate constant was calculated from the induction time on potentiostatic current transient. The growth current was found to be proportional to (?) indicating that the growth of the crystallites is controlled by the diffusion of nickel ions in solution, and the diffusion coefficient was obtained. The mechanism of the electrodeposition of nickel was proposed as a two-step discharge process.
