Experiment and numerical simulation study of flame propagation mechanism of methane explosion

The velocity and pressure characteristics of methane explosion of small size pipe have been studied by comparison methods between experiment and numerical simulation.The pressure at 500and 1 000mm from the fire was tested.The results showed that the simulation results were in agreement with the experiments.The max pressure was 7 000Pa,and the max speed was 148m/s.The pressure curve had two peaks of discharge pressure and burning pressure caused by excess gas mixture.The flame structure of large size simulation presented the characteristic of "tulip flame",which had also demonstrated in small size experiments.
