Competency-Based Translation Teaching——Exemplified by “Translation Workshop”Approach

This article takes the translation competence model proposed by PACTE for the goals of translation education in order to develop students into professional translators.From the perspective of constructivism and skopos theory,the present study advocates three translation instructional design principles,namely,to provide authentic tasks,to carry forward computer assisted translation teaching and to advocate collaborative learning.All the mentioned principles are applied in a new translation teaching approach "network-based translation workshop" at College of Journalism and Communication,Shanghai International Studies University,and some proposals are made concerning the pedagogical reform in China.
