The Museum Learning in the Eyes of Instructional Technology:Retrospect and Prospect

In this article,the retrospect and prospect of museum learning is reviewed from the perspective of instructional technology.The authors argue that there is a closed relationship between instructional technology and museum in history,and the early practice of museum-based learning establishes an important originator for instructional technology.With the subsequent professionalization of instructional technology and educational reform,the museum learning goes away with educational technology and disappears from the view of instructional technology professionals.For the 21 st century,it is necessary that instructional technology collaborates with museum again in the face of the upsurge of informal learning.The perspectives of education and technology in museum learning and the concerned focus questions of the two perspectives are distinguished from the standpoint of educational technology.The author proposes the questions involving facilitating museum learning in the future should be responded through the two aspects of theory and practice by instructional technology professionals.
