Investigation of infection by intestinal parasites in some large scale pig farms in the mid-Jiangsu area

In order to understand the infection situation of intestinal parasites in large-scale pig farms in the mid-Jiangsu Province area,895 fecal samples were collected randomly from 15 large-scale pig farms in this area. The fecal samples were examined by washing and precipitation,saturated salt water floatation and Lugol iodine staining. The results were that the total infection rate of intestinal parasites was 15. 08%. The main infectious species were coccidia,Oesophagostomum,Trichuris suis,Ascaris Iumbricoides and Balantidium coli. The infection rates of Balantidium coli (5. 81%),Ascaris Iumbricoides (4. 47%) and coccidian (3. 35%) were higher than those of other species.The infection rates of intestinal parasites in weaning piglets and sows were significantly higher than that in pigs in the other production stages,and the infection rate in piglets was the lowest.
