Detection and analysis of five viral pathogens associated with diarrhea in yaks in Huangzhong County,Qinghai Province

In order to understand the epidemic situation of virus diarrhea in yaks in Huangzhong County,the pathogens of five kinds of viral diarrhea caused by bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV),bovine enterovirus (BEV),bovine rotavirus (BRV),bovine coronavirus (BCV) and bovine stellate virus (BAst V) were detected and analyzed in 138 feces samples of diarrhea yaks in 11 villages and towns in Huangzhong County. The results showed that the average infection rates of BVDV,BEV,BRV,BCV and BAst V were 44. 93%,21. 74%,8. 70%,5. 07% and 6. 52%,respectively. Of the five pathogens,BVDV and BEV were prevalent in all the towns; BRV,BCV and BAst V were sporadically prevalent in some towns. The detection rate of the five pathogens in one ~ six month old calves was significantly higher than that of adult yanks of six or more months old. Separate and mixed infections of BVDV,BEV,BRV,BCV and BAst V were found in the 138 diarrhea yaks with a total infection rate of 53. 62%; there were 10 kinds of mixed infections,with a total infection rate of 15. 22%. To sum up,there were BVDV,BEV,BRV,BCV and BAst V infections in yaks in Huangzhong County,with complex mixed infections,which required special attention and concern.
