Inspection and key points for testing of Sulbactam sensitive β-lactamases in raw milk over the years

β-lactamases is an illegal additive to raw milk which breaks down β-lactam antibiotics (penicillins and cephalosporins),so that antibiotics contained in milk cannot be detected by conventional detection methods. In order to detect whether dairy cows have been administered with β-lactam antibiotics,inspection and test centers perform the β-lactamase test to confirm safety of milk. The Animal Husbandry Department of Ministry of Agriculture have organized inspections of the β-lactamase testing project to improve the accuracy and the level of β-lactamase testing in milk and other dairy products. This article summarizes and analyses the results of the β-lactam tests performed over the last seven years,especially proposing related key points and notes to be careful with,which may be helpful for related laboratories to improve accuracy of β-lactamase test.
