Objective To investigate ultrasounic manifestations and the clinical significance of Tibetan adults' eustachian valve(EV) remnant in Tibet Plateau. Methods A retrospective analysis was made in the clinical data of 43 Tibetan adults with EV remnant in Tibet Plateau. Summary was made in the patients' age of onset, gender, and ultrasonographic characteristics. Results EV located at the superior border of inferior vena cava ingress and showed a middle or slight strong echoic band with cardiac cycle fluttering in right atrium originating. The average length of the EV was(22.8 ±9.0)mm(9-49 mm, median 22 mm). There were 5 cases complicated with atrial septal aneurysm(ASA). There was no significant difference in the age of onset between genders and the length of the EV(P 0.05). Conclusion EV remnant is not very rare among the Tibetan adults in Tibet Plateau. Ultrasonography is simple and direct-viewing and provides accurate and prompt diagnostic results for the clinic, which is the first choice of imaging method for EV examination.
