The golden criterium of the diagnosis was rectal pathological biopsy. The diagnose accordance rate, the sensitivity, and the specificity of the two inspection methods were compared. Results Pathologic diagnosis showed there were 43 cases of normal prostate, 20 ones of prostate cancer, 129 ones of prostatic hyperplasia, 13 ones of prostatitis, and 27 ones of prostate cyst. According to the pathological diagnostic results, the sensibility of transrectal ultrasound diagnosis was 89.01%; the specificity was 74.42%; the accordance rate was 86.22%, which were all higher than those of transabdominal ultrasound(73.62%, 60.47%, and 71.11%, respectively)(P 0.05). Conclusion Transrectal ultrasound has a higher resolution in the examination of prostate diseases. It can effectively observe small lesions and improve the accuracy of diagnosis for prostate diseases, which is superior to transabdominal ultrasound.
