STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF MAGNETIC MIXTURE FERTILIZER ON ENZYME ACTIVITY IN PEAR TREES AND ON THE QUALITY OF THEIR FRUIT

Application of magnetic muxture fertilizer, a newly developed variety of fertilizer which is made of normal fertilizers mixed with pro-magnetized coal fly-ash, resulted in much higher yield than application of mixture, fertilizer or farm yard manure (FYM) alone. Highest yield was obtained when 5 kg of FYM plus 1. 5 kg magnetic fertilizer per plant were applied at flowering and 50 kg of FYM plus 2. 33 kg of magnetic mixture fertilizer were applied at fruit expansion stage. The sugar :acid ratio of the fruit was 67. 3 while in the leaves N : P2O5: K2O was 1.0= 0. 7: 0. 60 with considerable high P. The maximum daily increase in fruit size (6. 06 X 10~6 mm3) occurred in the treatment where 25 and 50 kg/plant and 0. 75 and 1. 7 kg/plant of FYM and magnetic fertilzer were applied at flowering and fruit expansion stage, respectively. SOD activity appeared high in the early period of fruit growth, thus favoring a delay .in aging while it was relatively low in later period and therefore, accelerated the ripening of the fruit.
