Expression and Significance of c-Jun N-terminal Kinase in Necrotizing Enterocolitis of Neonatal Rats

Objective To investigate the intracellular distribution and role of c-Jun N-terminal Kinase(JNK) in hypoxia-induced neonatal rat necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC).Methods Newborn Wistar rats were divided randomly into experimental group and control group,10 rats in each group.After NEC model was established,they were returned to their mothers.Rats were killed on day 4,and distal ileum was harvested for morphological study and immunohistochemistry for JNK.Results In normal intestinal tissue,there is no or only very weak staining for phosphorylation of JNK protein.Compared with control group,the expression of JNK was significantly increased and began to translocate from cytoplasm to nucleus in NEC group.Conclusion JNK signal pathway might play important role in the pathogenesis of NEC.
