THE DISCOVERY AND IDENTIFICATION OF Hg A HAPLOID IN UPLAND COTTON(Gossypium hirsutum)

In 1983, a very thin plant of cotton was discovered in the F1 population of cross with Lang A ( mSc3 )×M0-17-11. Its vegetable organs and flowers became smaller than ordinary plants, and its stem bent without any mature boll. In autumn, the plant was transported into greenhouse and the agamogenesis was conducted by cuttage, but its appearance of plant was unchanged. Through the identifications of the morphological, biological and cytological, it had been proved a haploid in Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) , and named as Hg. The path of generating Hg and the relatonsbip between its property of setting boll and utilization of it were discussed in this paper.
