STUDIES ON ECONOMIC THRESHOLD AND YIELDLOSS CAUSED BY SHEATH BLIGHT (Hypochnussasakii) IN HYBRID RICE

The yield loss by sheath blight (SB) to the hybrid rice and the economic threshold (ET) were studied in the western Sichuan during 1982-1985.The results showed that; When the severity of disease was in order of grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, SB could cause yield loss of the hybrid rice by 7.97, 9.48, 15.64, 17.74 and 33.86%, respectively. A power function was found between the disease index(DI = X)and the percentage of yield loss (Y) , and the functional equation could be manifested as Y=0.2531X1.4546 (r=0.98,P0.01,n=17),when X15.But when 15≤X ≤98,the relationship between the DI (X) and the percentage of yield loss (Y) appeared a linear function, and Y=9.0159 + 0.2317X (r = 0.93, n = 31) , and at booting stage the regression equation between the percentage of diseased hill (DH=Y) and DI (X) could be manifested as Y= 19. 5680 + 3. 9730X (r= 0.82, n=107). According to integrate relationships among the yield loss, DH and DI, combining the grain yield (N) , the rice price (C) , efficiency of chemical control (E) and the cost of chemical control (B) , a dynamic model of economic threshold (ET) for the rice sheath blight was proposed as; According to these results, the author suggested that, at the level of grain yield 6-7.5T/h at present, the index of chemical control should be 30-40% for the percentage of diseased hill, 3-5 for the disease index, the yield loss should be kept between 1.5 and 3%.
