PRELIMINARY REPORT FOR RESEARCH ON CITRUS NEMATODIASIS

Mao Qicai Deng Dailin Liang Anguo (Institute of Pomology, Siclucan Academy of Agricultural Sciences)
Citrus nematodiasis is one of major diseases on citrus plants. According to a incomplete investigation during 1983-1985 in Sichuan, this kind of diseasewas found in all 19 counties, from which the samples of investigation were taken, and the incidences of this kind of disease come up to 100%.When a citrus plant was infected by nematodes, its leaves turned yellow and defoliated, then its tops died back and its roots rotted away, and as a result, its yield decreased significantly. More than ten species of Citrus nematodes have been found in Sichuan, among them, the dominant one is Tylenchulus semi-penetrans. The systimatic investigation in field showed that T.semipenetrans could reproduce ten generations (the tenth was incomplete) annully in Jiana-jin county, Sichuan province, the development for each genenation needs about 17-42 days, and the overlaps between generations were obviously. The soil temperature from 18° to 24.6℃ was advantageous for the growth and development of nematodes. Those orchards, whose soils were sand or sandy loam and with pH 5.6-8, were infected widespreadly and seriously. If the crops of Nightshade family or Legulmina were interplanted in citrus orchards, this disease would be accelerated. According to preliminary investigations, crthe differences of susceptibility and resistibility to the disease among roots-tock varieties were significant, among which, tugan, sunkic Citrus reticulate Blanco) ,Lemon (C.limon Burn.f.) and Sweet orange (C.smenszs L.Osb.) etc.were most susceptible, while trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliate Ra-f.) and kwigan (C.Pyrigormis Hort.) were relatively resistant.
