Research on gene transformation in wheat

ZENG Li qiong 1,CHENG Zai quan 1,DUAN Yu yun 1,CUN Shou xian 1 ,XU Zeng fu 2 (1 Biotechnology Institute,Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences,Kunming 650223,China;2 Biotechnological Center,Sunyatsen University,Guangzhou 510275,China)  
Foreign plasmid pZFX2,containing the NPT Ⅱ(neomycin phosphotransferase)and glycolate oxidase gene which can increase the wheat plant resistance to insects,was introduced into the calli and mature embryos of wheat by the following methods:particle bombardment;electroporation,Agrobacterium mediated transformation and soaking in DNA solution.After selection culture and regeneration culture,some transgenic calli and plants resistant to Kanamycin were obtained.The optimum conditions and the efficiency of these gene transformation methods were studied.
