Preliminary studies on relationship between root morphological traits,yield per plant and lodging in Brassica napus L.

The root morphological traits,yield per plant and lodging were analyzed by the experiment of 3 varieties among 3 different density.The results of correlation analysis showed that there were significant positive correlation﹙P0.05) between main root length and number of lateral root,root volume,and including between root thickness and root volume.Significant positive correlation ﹙P0.01) also existed between number of lateral root and root thickness,root volume,thickness of rhizome.Moreover,it was the same as between thickness of rhizome and root thickness,root volume.However,significant negative correlation﹙P0.05)existed between root dry weight/root fresh weight and number of lateral root,root volume.The yield per plant had significant positive correlation﹙P0.05)with root volume and thickness of rhizome.The lodging index had negative correlation in a certain degree with root thickness and thickness of rhizome,but did not reach statistically significant levels.
