Mixed Major Gene plus Polygene Inheritance Analysis of Haploid Embryo Production Frequency in Wheat×Maize Cross

The inheritance of wheat haploid embryo production frequency(EPF) in wheat × maize cross was investigated with a F2 population derived from C49S-87/01Y1-1069 by using the mixed major gene plus polygene genetic model of quantitative traits.The frequency distribution of EPF in the population showed characteristics of a mixed normal distribution,suggesting that the inheritance of EPF followed a major gene plus polygene model.And the model B6 was the most suitable one for the trait,i.e.the EPF was controlled by two co-dominance major genes,the heritability of major genes were lower at 43.6 %, indicating that non-genetic factors possibly had more influence on EPF in wheat × maize cross.
