Identification of Progenies from Sugarcane×Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor. by SSR Marker

In a bid to explore the feasibility of distant hybridization between sugarcane and Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor, SSR markers were used to identify the progenies from five crosses between sugarcane × Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor.Nine pairs of primers selected from 70 pairs of SSR primers were screened out and applied for identification of 57 progenies of sugarcane × Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor.The results showed that fourteen progenies had the special bands of parents,and they were thereby recognized as the true hybrids.SSR marker technology was proved to be useful for identifying the progenies of sugarcane × Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor.It could be concluded that this experiment established a favorable foundation on the effective use of hybrids from sugarcane and Narenga porphyrocoma(Hance) Bor as well as the related basic research.
