Shu Saide Den Qiying(Institute of Crop, GAAS. Guiyang, 550006) Gao Hongwei(Institute of Scientific & Technological Information, GAAS. Guiyang, 550006)
This paper reported the types, characters and their distribution of 52 barley local cultivars catalogued in Guizhou Province. The results showed that these cultivars belonged to 24 varieties, among which 4 were new ones never reported in domestic and abroad. Most of them were of polyrow type and the bushy ones were more than the naked ones. The spike characters for most local varieties were characterized by rare ear, narrow glume, long awn with notch, yellow hush and seed. The majority of these local cultivars were hushy barley (H. vulgare) and the others were naked ones. Based on the grological distribution and agroclimatic zone of these cultivars, they coud be divided into 5 groups: Central Guizhou, Northern Guizbou, Northwest Guizhou and Southern Guizhou.
