Relationship Between the Endogenous Hormone GA 3 and the Germination of Ratooning Buds in Rice( Oryza sativa L.)

ELISA(Enzyme linked immunosorbant assay)was adopted to study the relationship between endogeous hormone GA 3 and germination of ratooning buds in rice( Oryza sativa L.).The results showed as follows:There is a close relationship between the endogenous hormone GA 3 and the germination and growth of ratooning buds in rice plants.From 0 to 20 days after heading(DAH)of the main crop GA 3 content in plants was low and ratooning buds were in dormant state.Starting from 20 DAH,GA 3 content in main crop drastically increased and the ratooning buds began to germinate.After germination of ratooning buds,there was a great variance of GA 3 content among different buds.The buds which grew rapidly had higher GA 3 content,indicating that the germination and growth of ratooning buds in rice were controlled by endogenous hormone GA 3 for higher GA 3 content in plants was good for improving the germination and growth of ratooning buds.
