Molecular basis of flower development in higher plant

NI Su (College of Agriculture,Sichuan Agricultural University,Yaan,Sichuan,625014 China)  
The present status and prospect of studies on specific genes for development of androecium,pistil and petals of higher plants are reviewed in this paper.Homoetic genes in the early floral organ development are introduced as an important part.The chalcone synthase genes in relation to petal pigments,P 2 gene in the androecium microspore,TA 29 gene in the tapetum and self incompatibility genes inside the pistil are also described concerning their expression,regulation and physiological function.
