Physiological Adaptation of Membrane Protective System to Soil Water Stress in Taxus Media cv.Hicksii

The effects of soil water stress on membrane protective system and membrane lipid peroxidation in 3-year-old Taxus media cv.Hicksii leaves were studied. The results showed that under soil water stress, the rate of O·-2 production and the MDA content increased, the relative membrane permeability took the presentation of "S" shape, and that the content of AsA decreased. The activities of SOD and POD increased along with the soil water content decreased, but membrane permeability increased rapidly when soil water content was lower than 12.78%.
