Investigation of Optical Pulse Compression Based on Cross-Phase Modulation in Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror

A novel method for optical pulse compression based on cross-phase modulation(XPM) in the nonlinear optical loop mirror(NOLM) constructed by dispersion-shift fiber is proposed and analyzed.The numerical results show that based on XPM effect that caused by a pump pulse and a signal pulse co-propagating in NOLM,the better pulse compression can be realized.
