Tracing the Origins of Tibetan and Mongolian Cairns

This article traces the origins of Tibetan and Mongolian cairns by analyzing some literature material and concrete objects.The author thinks that the origins of the symbols of the two different cultures are involved in ancient Chinese,Indian,Mongolian,as well as Tibetan culture.Tibetan Buddhism becoming popular in Mongolian area not only indicates the end of Mongolian blood sacrificing cairn,but also promotes the mutual acceptance relation of Tibetan and Mongolian cairns.Therefore,in a sense,the cairns are the symbol of the profound friendship between Tibetan and Mongolian people.
