A Discussion on the Chinese Translation of Vol.3 Chapter 2 mkas-pavi-dgav-ston, a Tibetan History Book

The Chinese translation of chapter two of mkas-pavi-dgav-ston, a Tibetan history book, translated byMr. Huang Hao, a famous scholar, draws great attention of the scholars of Tibetan studies because of the mis-takes in the translation. The mistakes are the result of translator's misunderstanding of the original work. What'sworse is that some scholars have been using the translation as a reference in their studies. Thus, it is necessary tocorrect the translation otherwise the content of the history book may be spread incorrectly. The mistakes weremade mainly in translating the sentences with special syntactic structure, book titles, the name of places, dia-lects and so on. The article points out the mistakes made in the translation based on repeated comparison andcross-check of the original work and its translation so as to have a translation be more faithful to the original one.
