A method for determining aldicarb residue in tobacco by GC/FPD was developed. Aldicarb in tobacco was extracted with methanol, oxidized by H_2O_2, purified by liquid-liquid partition with CH_2Cl_2 to remove the components interfering GC separation of aldicarb, and then determined by GC/FPD. The aldicarb residue in tobacco was quantitated by an external standard method. The detection limit of this method was 0.04μg/g, the recoveries of aldicarb residue from tobacco samples were from 83.12% to 99.16% and the RSD was from 5.56% to 10.77%.
