Establishment of A Rabbit Stress Fracture Model Diagnosed by ECT

Objective To set up an experimental model of stress fracture, and further explore the pathogenosis of stress fracture. Method 14 rabbits were randomly divided into two groups, 10 in experimental group, 4 in control group. Rabbits in experimental group were daily put in a special set, in which the rabbit can be forced to jump and run through giving pulse electric current. The stress fracture of the rabbits were diagnosed by the result of ECT(Emission Computed Tomography) periodically, and 1 or 2 rabbits were sacrificed weekly. The pathological changes of the bone were also observed. Results The longer the training day the rabbit lasted, the more severe the pathological changes of the bones were. The results also indicated that the severity of ECT of the rabbit did not keep pace with that of pathological changes. Conclusion The early pathological changes of bone can be obtained by the stress fracture animal model which were diagnosed by ECT.
