SPIN SATELLITE ATTITUDE DETERMINATION AND SYSTEM BIAS ESTIMATION

This paper presents a processing method of attitude determination data and its results for a low orbit spin-stabilized satellite.First, the least squre and Powell optimization technique are applied to estimate some system biases. Then Kalman filter is used for precisely estimating the attitude of satellite.Numerical analysis shows that this method considerably improve the results obtained by extended Kalman filter which considers system biases as additional state variables.This approach works well in practice, and could be used for system with weak observability.
