RESEARCH ON THE METHODS TO IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF A LASER-BASED STRAIGHTNESS MEASURING INSTRUMENT

Mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and aviation industry often require a relative accuracy of 10-6 or better for long distances alignment. Unique properties of laser beams make them very useful in solving the problem. But the drift and scintillation of the laser beam effect the accuracy of straightness measuing, research on a method to solve these problems is now a key.This article analyzes the factors which make the beam drift and wander, summarizes various schemes obtained to date. Based on experiments the author proposes some idea in solving the problems.
