A case-control study on risk factors leading to recurrence of SLE

Objective To discover risk and protective factors that could lead to recurrence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods A case control study based on self report was carreid on in 47 SLE patients of recurrence and 55 inactive SLE patients who came to see a doctor at regular intervals. Results Uni variable test revealed that possible risk factors were moist living circumstance, bad disposition, insomnia, frequent fatigue from work,felt unkindness of others, abnormal psychological status, doctors and nurses’unkindness and malar rush. The risk fact ors selected by Logistic regression were insomnia, others' unkindness and abnormal psychological status. Taking prednisone according to specialist was a protective factor. Conclusion The result indicates that SLE recurrence is most strongly associated with insomnia, others’unkindness and abnormal psychological status.
