Clinical application of a self-made device for craniocerebral tumor location

Objective The aim of the study is to find a more accura te technique for the location of craniocerebral tumors. Methods On the basis of the three dimensional coordinate principle, we designed and made by ourselves a devi ce for craniocerebral tumor location with stainless steel as materials. Results After a series of improvements, the device was used to locate tum ors in 10 patients with brain glioma ( grade Ⅱ～Ⅲ). According to the reexamination by cerebral CT imaging, the average deviation between the target centers determined with the locator and the tumor centers was 1 75 mm. Conclusion The loca tor proves to be accurate and reliable. The device brings a real convenience for the location o f craniocerebral tumors to the middle and small hospitals which have only some simple radiotherapy equip ment.
