Percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty for congenital valvular pulmonary stenosis

Objective To observe the safety and immediate e ffect in congenital valvular pulmonary stenosis using PBPV. Method s Analysing 6 youngest cases with valvular pulmonary stenosis perfo rmed PBPV. Results PBPV in 6 cases all successed. The systol ic pressure of right ventricle decreased from 9 82 kPa±1 57 kPa (pre valvuplasty) to 4 84 kPa±0 83 kPa (post valvuplasty) with that of pul monary artery increasing from 2 58 kPa±0 85 kPa to 3 98 kPa±1 06 kPa . And the pressure gradient across pulmonic valve decreased from 6 82 kPa±1 53 kPa to 1 09 kPa±0 84 kPa. The murmur decreased significant ly without significant complications. Conclusion PBPV is the best treatment for valvular pulmonary stenosis with a high success rat e and few complications. It is safe and effective .
