Reconstruction of mandibular giant defects with titanium plates

Objective To explore ideal method for reconstructing mandibular giant defects by the application of titanium plates. Methods Titanium plates were used to repair 20 cases with mandibular giant defects after resection of oromaxillofacial tumors. Results Among 20 patients, 19 cases were completely repaired. The remaining case was partially repaired. Both mandibular appearance and physiological functions were restored satisfactorily. Conclusion Adopting titanium plates to reconstruct mandibular giant defects is of good curative effect and high application potential.
