Interference Patterns Storing in Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals and its Diffraction Properties

The phase separation between prepolymer and liquid crystals was induced by laser beam interference bright patterns. After the phase separation, the interference patterns we re stored in polymer/liquid crystal composed film, which is called holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals (HPDLC). Some related factors having influence on the image storing in HPDLC were studied, the structure of the film was observed under optical microscope, and the diffraction properties of the grating-like film were given. Results show that the formed HPDLC with grating structure is permanent, and the diffraction efficiency can be adjusted electrically or thermally.
