Clinical characteristics and endoscopic features of gastrointestinal amyloidosis:17 cases report

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of gastrointestinal amyloidosis and its endoscopic features.Methods From 2016 to January 2003,17 cases of patients with amyloidosis diagnosed by biopsy in 3 months,10 males and 7 females.mean age(63.8 ±15.9) years old.Analyze the clinical data and summarize the clinical features of the patients.Results The frequent presentations of gastrointestinal amyloidosis were gastrointestinal bleeding(hematochezia,melena,and hematemesis),anorexia,abdominal pain,abdominal distention and diarrhea.The main findings of gastroscopy were ulcer,granular mucosa,mucosal nodule or protrusion,erosion;colonoscopy features were patchy erosion,submucosal hematoma,bleb,petechiae,protrusions or irregular ulcers.Conclusion Gastrointestinal bleeding is the most frequent clinical presentations of gastrointestinal amyloidosis;gastroscopy lacks specific findings,but submucosal hematoma,bleb may be the typical feature of colon amyloidosis.
