Objective To detect the serum 25 hydroxy vitamin D in aortic dissection patients, and to investigate the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and aortic dissection. Methods Sixty two aortic dissection patients and seventy one healthy donors were included in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from Nov 2015 to Nov 2016.Serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D levels were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Logistic stepwise regression model was established to screen the risk factors of aortic dissection. Results The serum 25 hydroxy-vitamin D level in aortic dissection patients was(16.56 ±7.51) ng/ml,and the level in healthy donors was(25.21 ±8.57) ng/ml;the difference was statistically significant((=6.143,P =0.000).The proportion of vitamin D deficiency in aortic dissection group was 74.2%,the proportion of vitamin D deficiency in the control group was 28.2%,and the proportion of vitamin D deficiency in aortic dissection group was about 2.6 times higher than that in the control group(x~2=28.095,P 0.01).Logistic stepwise regression analysis showed that vitamin D(OR =0.271,P =0.000),blood HDL-C(OR =0.446,P = 0.023)and hypertension history(OR =3.066,P =0.011) were independent predictors of aortic dissection. Conclusion It suggested that the vitamin D deficiency was prevalent in AD patients and was an independent risk factor linked to aortic dissection.
