The role of phosphatidylethanolamine N methyltransferase pathway in liver diseases

Phosphatidylethanolamine N methyltransferase( PEMT) can catalyze the conversion of phosphatidylethanolamine( PE) to phosphatidylcholine( PC). It is involved in a variety of metabolic reactions in liver such as lipid metabolism,endoplasmic reticulum stress and cell autophagy. Recently,more and more studies have shown that aberrant PEMT activity can promote the development of various diseases such as steatohepatitis,liver failure and liver cancer.
