Construction of“Five-Step”English Teaching Model Based on Gass' s Input-Output Theory and its Application in Hefei University of Technology

As college English teaching has long been plagued by the problem of"time-consuming and low efficiency",this paper,based on Gass' s input-output theory,proposes a "five-step"teaching model,which stresses the vital role of input in language acquisition with an integration of classroom teaching and self-study.The new model aims to intensify learning frequency and ensure the studentcentered position in English learning.Its application in Hefei University of Technology has proved that this model is helpful in improving students' ability of using English,especially the ability of speaking and writing in English.
